Beyond just making changes to Salesforce records, you may need to link some together. For example: you may want to connect every case created by a set of email addresses in the same company to the same Account. Here's how to use the Salesforce: Link New Record to do that.
Title
This field appears up top in Sidekick when your team reaches this step in the flow. Use this field to describe what your team should do here, or if set to run automatically, what this step is doing in the background.
Automatically Run This Step?
Check this box to make this step run automatically without waiting for your team to provide input. To use this checkbox, you will need to configure this step fully in Flow Builder.
Select Source Object
Select the type of Salesforce record your team will be starting from when they reach this step in the flow. For example, if your team will generally run this flow from the Case Details screen, select Case.
Select Source Field
Select the field which will link the record your team is on, and the record that still needs to be linked. Both records will need to have value in this field in common. If two records do not share at least one data point between them, they cannot be linked.
Select Target Object
Select the type of record that will be linked to the record you chose in the Select Source Object field earlier.
For example: if you want to link a Case record to a particular Account record using the Account ID they have in common, select Account.
Enter Values
Beyond linking records together, you can also update field values on the linked record at the same time.
- Order
- Use this field to select the order in which the fields will be updated.
- Field Name
- Select the field on the Target Object Record to be updated.
- Value
- Set the value to be written into the specified field on the Target Object Record.
